She lives in another time period, yes, we get it, but STILL. I like to imagine that is the author's goal at this point, and if so, they've achieved it with flying colors. I have to say though, I really dislike Ada so far. I really, really hope the next book has more plot and a bit less of the steaminess that this one had. That being said, the plot IS interesting and unique in it's own right, and I do like it, but it felt greatly overshadowed by the sex. I struggled to get through it at times, and almost stopped entirely when a week had gone by without finishing it because I could only bear to listen to so much of it at once without eye rolling. I promise I'm not fickle, it just felt like over half of the book was sex scenes and the plot was just a side story manufactured so there was a reason for them to happen so often. It felt like they were nearly constant, and that's coming from someone that typically wants more of such scenes in their romance novels. I didn't think that I would ever review a romance and feel like there were actually too many "intimate" scenes, but it really did feel that way with this book. I think the book overall is around a 3, just because of what I'm about to say. I can't change my rating for some reason and it's not the correct number of stars, so just ignore it. I warn thee brutally honest review incoming.
